The first inhabitants of New Zealand were the Maoris - they were there thousands of years before any European had set foot on the islands. Their presence is evident throughout the country, and their culture has been preserved (and commercialized for the tourists). Below is the Haka, a dance the Maoris do to greet people - or how the New Zealand All Blacks rugby team start off any game in hopes of intimidating their opponents.
