The park is home to many humongous trees, including Douglas-fir, Western Red cedar, Western Hemlock, and Sitka Spruce trees, and the tree pictured here - known as the "hollow tree". It is probably one of the most commonly photographed items in Stanley Park (as you might guess from all the people standing in front of it with cameras). Sadly, it was deemed a safety hazard in early 2008, and is now blocked off and will likely soon be removed.
