Erosion took a giant step forward one day when London Bridge fell down. In January 1990, the piece between the mainland and the rock you see in the middle of the water collapsed. Luckily, no one was hurt. However, two people having an affair were trying to have a quiet weekend away. They were unfortunate enough to be on the rock in the middle of the water, so had to wait for several hours for helicopters to pick them up off the rock. Long enough for newspapers to put them on the front page of the paper!
